Catasetum got wet before anticipated; is this the end?
Question Catasetum got wet before anticipated; is this the end?

Somebody’s rain dance worked and my Catasetum has gotten its first sip of water…Two weeks ahead of schedule.

From the resources I have come across, the consensus seems to be no water until the roots are at least 3-4 inches—unfortunately I’m afraid I’m barely at 3 inches of roots.

I’ve included a photo for reference, I can take more if needed.

Thanks in advance!

I also want to apologize for the photo quality; I didn’t realize it would be so grainy!

Its ok, just dont let it get soggy and dont let water sit in the crown of the new growth. I dont think youll need to worry too much since it doesnt have any media. I water lighlty early on because i grow in a very dry environment.

Growing bare-root like it does in nature, it will be fine. Evloution has to have built in a little "slop" since nature doesn't read books or utilize a ruler - the rainy season has a bit of variability. Those roots will dry out when the rain stops. (When one grows in medium, it would stay wet which could be a problem, but that's "unnatural")

Back when I was growing these. I would be watering lightly by now. You will be fine.

Should be fine. I'd let it stay dry for another month instead of only two more weeks.
