Apologies to Joni Mitchell... such a perfect description.

One season of Catasetinae ends:

Fdk. After Dark 'Black Pearl' is fully open, will be done soon. It is Mo. Painted Desert x Ctsm. Donna Wise, which in turn is Ctsm. tenebrosum x Ctsm. Orchidglade.

Bridging the seasons:

Clo. Jumbo York which is Cl. Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink' x Ctsm. Orchidglade 'Sun Rise' has been open for about a week, nearing its peak.

The first of next season:

Cl. Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink' is just opening, this is the first of many spikes.

Not a leaf in sight, they're all in dormancy. But can spring be far away?

Just beautiful. And I think Queen Joni would be flattered!

Spring definitely feels far away in Colorado, with recent high temps of 2 degrees (F) and lows well into the negatives....I'm glad my plants are grown indoors!
