I had a Catasetum skip shedding its leaves one year. As soon as the old growth was mature, a new one started. The old growth eventually shedded its leaves in about February or so, but it didn't bloom that year. I'm glad yours is!

i recently moved many of the catsetum to this metal table which is directly next to the bee hive and away from my house a little. it is only one year so far but i have not had ANY critters attack them. i have been on my curly tail erradcation mission for a few year though and there are way less around on my property than there used to be
or they are better at hiding from me
just because you said this though i have to do something or all three will get ate and i will be to blame

Maybe just bring it in the house. It isn't growing as it heads for dormancy, doesn't really care about getting great light.

easier said than done with a pendulous spike. shes is very tall and quite adventurous
i chose my normal course of action, inaction, and left her in her spot...it worked out

this is hands-down my favorite orchid and this is her best flowering since ive had her. I was bugging Fred for an after dark black pearl division for so long he finally said, "look, do you just want a really black one with a good scent?" to which i said, YES
he NEVER disappoints

these last a while so i HOPE that the third spike opens while the first two are still full

Wow, that's spectacular! I think that Fred did outdo himself! Your Floridian climate no doubt helped, I think those Catasetinae love it. And Fredclarkeas do seem to get better and better as they get huge. That plant is not a miniature.
