My cooperi came in yesterday and looks exactly the same so I won't repost a copycat picture! I won't hijack the thread with the other Cattleya hybrids either, but I did get some good stuff

Tracking says mine are out for delivery. I'm glad I had them delivered to my office. It's stupid hot today!! If hate for them to sit in my porch baking sheet being boxed up for a week.

They finally arrived.

I ordered one of the Ctmds, but unfortunately was sold out before they picked my order. I wonder if both Ctmds were sold out. I got 2 for the replacement though.

I ended up with

Ctsm vinaceum x invane- original order

Cl Grace Dunn x Morm AFtermath-alt

Ctsm Susan Fuchs x ivanae- the other alt. I almost ordered this one in the first place.

I'm excited to see the blooms, but sure would have liked one of the Ctmds!

Mine came in spike as well. It looks to be a little further along than yours, so I might beat you to flowers 😆. The leaves looked fine, but the next day after watering/fertilizing they were all brown. I guess I should have waited on the fertilizer.

Jinh - how did you fertilize? If these turn brown quickly during the growing season the problem is either underwatering, too much sun or spider mite attack.

Jinh 07-24-2022 04:59 PM

As soon as my order came in they were completely dry, so I just mixed up about 1/4 balanced fertilizer with water and soaked all 4 of my orchids from SVO. It was like 111 degrees here in Texas though. All 4 of my order looked good when they arrived, but the next day 3 of the 4 had brown and/or yellowing tips.

I wasn’t sure if it was heat damage or maybe I should have just used plain water first since they were so dry on arrival.

I'd expect heat damage. Probably the small amount of fertilizer didn't make a difference. If they were Catasetinae or other deciduous orchid, no worries... not only will the "toasting" not harm the current growth, next year they'll get new leaves and all insults will be forgotten. Heat damage typically does take a bit of time to show up. (Personally, I would not fertilize a freshly-unpacked plant...get them hydrated first) Water, and keep in shade or the house for a day or two to let them "readjust" to life out in the open. This on general principles, not only in the middle of a heat wave when it's even more important.
