Someone asked for pictures? This Cycnodes 'Wine Delight' is one of Fred's plants, but not from any recent vintage. Mr. Clarke gave a talk at the Staten Island Orchid Society. Photo metadata says 'taken Feb 2000', so I must have acquired the just out of dormancy p-bulbs at the presentation some months earlier in Spring/Summer 1999.

I only got the one plant. Other than some Phal's, I was still mainly a cultivator of locally available tropical houseplants. Given the fact that I was growing it out in a Lower Manhattan office building, blooming it was quite the surprise. It even threw a second spike for me, first time out. That kind of beginners luck started a love affair with these species and Intergenerics that has weathered my very long time away from anything green or growing.

Currently I am growing out a badly sunburned Monnineara 'Midnight Magic' in a mini greenhouse that hates plants. The p-bulbs are putting on size despite the significant reduction is leaf surface area. Fingers crossed.

P.S. That ?? 'Nuclear Fallout' (can't see the page right now) that has been crossed with something else in one of the early listings looks amazing! I am considering ordering one of the crosses, but does anyone know if the 'NF' is available as a standalone grex?

One of the special charms of Catasetinae is that they reinvent themselves every year. Toasted leaves are soon forgotten. (As opposed to toasted Cattleya or Phalaenopsis leaves that you have to look at for years after)

If you're interested in one of the parents of a listed cross, send Fred an email and inquire. Occasionally he will sell divisions of some of his stud plants.

That is way above the $150.00 threshold for purchase without CFO approval. Not happening. I will have to get my buzz some other (legal) way.

Hey, the divisions aren't ALL $1000... Lots of others that would not break the bank.

Earlier post deleted due to high thread hijack potential. Please disregard.

Did anybody get " Ctsm. vinaceum 'SVO' HCC/AOS x Ctsm. ivaneae 'Purple Fantasy' "? Freds notes about a possible purple bloom has me really curious. Hopefully someone can post them here one day!

Fred does some wonderfully creative crosses. These are both unusual species... I saw a photo of Ctsm ivaneae 'Purple Fantasy' and its' really dark. A good chance of purple...
