Stanhopea: is this a vegetative spike?

I’m assuming this is a vegetative spike and not a flower spike as it’s emerging on top and not the bottom or side. See photo, new growth in center. The spike is so sharp it reminded me of a cymbidium bloom spike. First few months growing these and not knowing what to expect on growth cycle, patterns . Thanks
