It's not an impressive bloom for this species; but I'm very pleased it bloomed at all.


I most definitely wouldn't have been able to keep the plant alive and (hopefully) well without all the precious tips from Cat experts out there

Thanks all!

My orchids dealer said this species is closely related to Catasetum gladiatorium and barbatum, and is one of the easiest Catasetinae.

It's a first bloom and culture isn't perfect, so it has a lot of room for improvement. Happy plants can be extremely showy and have dozen of flowers at once.

Not that I can tell yet. Flowers have been open for 3-4 days and are still developing, maybe it'll come later?
