Take that for AOS judging. You might get a CCM.

Agreed, that's an exceptional plant being exceptionally well grown!

The hard part of getting awards on Stanhopeas... flowers are short-lived so one has to get really lucky, have them open precisely on the day of judging.

I think our plants are about the same size, but you have considerably more buds on yours, although mine has just started to bud. I just now noticed the tiniest of little nubs poking out of the bottom of the pot a couple days ago so maybe more will follow. I hope mine puts on a show like yours!

Outstanding! It's a "stanimal". What a beast. Very impressive and you both get my respect. to philiplowery and your beautiful Stan.

There really hasn't been anything to it. I hang it in filtered light under a tree, I water it a ton, and I leave it alone, and it grows like wild. It takes so much less care than a lot of my other ones.
The only challenge is finding a place for it indoors in winter. It's just so damn big, it's hard to find a good place to put it, but I found a place for it last year, and it did just fine.
But seriously, it is a low-maintenance plant.

Yes, I have several grown indoors when temps get chilly. But my response was for pliliplowery.

Oh, I think when you said "both of you" since there was only you, me, and the OP participating at that moment, and that threw me off

Thank you all for your kind words. The award aspect of orchid growing isn’t something I’ve gotten involved with. It’d be really neat, but I’ll need to learn more about it; maybe in a future year. I really love Stanhopeas though I have had mixed success thus far. This one and another tigrina that I have (Glory of Mexico) each have 10 spikes going this year. They are definitely outperforming my others (by a lot).
