Fdk After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl'
Default Fdk After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl'

Just wanted to show you this. It started growing this year earlier than it ever has before (this is my third summer with this plant), and can't believe how fast it has grown and how tall it already is, and it isn't finished growing yet. I'm sure there is nothing extraordinary about this, but it is 24 inches tall so far, and for me, that the biggest it has ever been. I wish it would break multiple leads. Does that ever happen, or do they tend to only ever have one new growth at a time?

They can do more than one new growth when they get large (or one isn't developing well they'll do an insurance policy) Not finished yet? It is just getting started! Keep watered and well fertilized! (I add a top dressing of time-release fertilizer so that if I am less than diligent the plant is still getting the boost that it needs)

Yes, don't be in a hurry to divide the plant as it grows more back bulbs. When it has a few more back bulbs and is in a bigger pot, you will have a better chance of more that one new growth in a year.

I fertilize it regularly, and I keep it pretty wet, but I'll add some time release fertilizer to the top.

It's still in a 5 inch pot, so it isn't super huge yet, and I have no plans to divide any time soon.

Thank you both for the tips! I really appreciate it.
