Beautiful! The shape looks spot on for the cross and the color isn't beyond what is possible. Rather than a mislabel, you might have a polyploid. How large are the flowers?

What a beauty! Camille, you have hit the jackpot with your winter-blooming Catasetinae! This one takes after its Cl. Rebecca Northen parent especially... starting with the fragrance. (My Rebecca Northen is almost ready to bloom... looking forward to that wonderful aroma) The hybrid has bigger, and more open, flowers - Melana shows her influence there.

I measured them yesterday. Roughly 3 to 3.3cm high and 4.5cm wide. I honestly don't know if that standard or not!

I've heard a lot about Cl. Rebecca Northen, and really want one. I had purchased one at the same time as the Melana's Daughter, but sadly it really struggled to get going and died (partially my fault, as a newbie to these back then I think I started watering it slightly too soon, the growth rotted, and it never really bounced back)

AOS awards for this one range from 4.0cm wide (mine!)
up to 6.6cm!! 
Most are just over 4.0cm |

Cl Rebecca Northen is an odd one... I think it takes heavily after Cl. rosea which is 3/4 of its parentage. It blooms on completely dormant (even slightly shriveled) pseudobulbs, right about now. About the time that the flowers are fading, the new leaves just start to appear (watering still 6 weeks to 2 months away)
Indeed, I think I missed the potting window... by the time it's done blooming, new roots are likely to be well on their way. Next year I'll be a bit more proactive. |
