I was looking through the SVO catalogue, intending to buy only one plant, and now I'm terribly torn because I really can't get more than one, but there are so many great options. Here are the three that are most interesting to me:

Ctsm. NEW HYBRID (Ctsm. Marlene Young 'SVO' x Ctsm. Karen Armstrong 'Super Nice')

Ctsm. Karen Armstrong (Ctsm. denticulatum 'Dark Spots' x Ctsm. Susan Fuchs 'Burgundy Chips' FCC/AOS)

Ctsm. NEW HYBRID (Ctsm. Chuck Taylor 'Way Good' x Ctsm. Susan Fuchs 'Burgundy Chips' FCC/AOS)

Aaahhh! Please help me choose!

Also, this will be the first plant in the Catasetinae that I'm attempting to grow, so I hope none of these are too difficult for a beginner...

Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo!

I'd try the second one, that denticulatum cross. Might be a little smaller than your avg Catasetum. They can get so huge.

Any of these will knock your socks off, no worries there 🧦💥

Yes, look at the relative sizes of the plants. And flowering season. And whether they flower more than once a year.

Uh oh, they're all part of the compact/mini breeding program, and they all flower multiple times a year...

I would actually go with one of the new hybrids. The new shapes and colors from these crosses are really unique!

That said, Karen Armstrong has been around for a while and you can look up the blooms with some certainty regarding what the flowers will look like. I don't think I've seen an unattractive Karen Armstrong! Its a really great cross!

Maybe buy all three?
