plant took a tumble, little bit of damage, what to do?

So there was apparently another tropical depression that i did not hear about and one of my Catasetum was blown off the table...two broken leaves and the pot cracked in a big but not totally destroyed way...

so i think the plant is okay with just those leaves mangled but since it was still in growth and has yet to spike, i don't want to repot her.....

the roots are looking insane though

i was either going to just leave it and maybe pack some lava rock around the pot in its water saucer OR drop the whole thing into a 6" pot...i will not hammer-time it bc that would be too jarring to the roots, i feel

I would leave it like that until it goes dormant, then treat it as you would normally do. Or, you could gently set the entire thing into a slightly large pot for the rest of the growing season.
At least you didn't have a child who knocked it off and then decided to replant it...upside down and hide it. Lost my favorite Dendrobium that way and it was a NOID.

I agree. Don't try to do anything until it goes dormant. If it was mine, I'd drop the whole thing into a larger pot, fill win with some lava rock or whatever medium you use, and keep on doing what you're doing. Those roots are awesome, and the leaves are still quite functional. Nice thing about these is that they start all over with new leaves next spring anyway.

Thanks gang. I left it as it was and restrained myself. Tomorrow I will drop her into a larger pot and make sure all is stable with my chunky mix

Hoping I can get spikes from my late bloomers now that i have killed every invasive lizard I’ve seen for two months.....I feel like a monster but I have lost a total of 22 inflorescences to some sort of pest be it rat or lizards and I am over it lol

Rant over. Sorry. Had a lot of anger about these lost spikes.
