Frilly Doris help

Purchased this a month ago, came in spike but it blasted. Now, leaves are turning brown. It does have new growth. It’s in moss so I keep it moist but not drenched. It does get some direct sunlight, but not for a prolonged period. Thoughts?

what are the temps it was exposed to on the way to you ( you are not listing your location so i don't want to guess)

that looks like cold damage to me but if it came in spike it might be just getting ready to drop those leaves....mine usually yellow and them drop but i am sure it could look different in different conditions


the way the damage looks so localized just reminds me of a cold damage (or sunburn, but that's out from your description and i don't think you can sunburn these)

I live in GA, it was shipped from SC, so definitely not cold damage. But I guess sunburn is possible...it’s on a table a few feet away from a south facing window. I don’t know exactly how much direct sun it gets but my best guess is a few hours max. Thanks for responding 😊

No chance that it touched a window, the table is at least 3 feet away from the window

How far from a leaf do you have to hold a magnifying glass that is magnifying the sun before the leaf bursts into flames?
That sure looks like classic sunburn to me.

Nice thing about Catasetinae... if the leaves get trashed, no worries... they will be shed, and next spring it will grow new leaves and new roots. These reinvent themselves every year.

That’s the first thing I thought but I dismissed it

I’d monitor it but I think it is not a sickness but evidence of some kind of damage already done
