Summer leaf drop on Fka. After Dark Male
Default Summer leaf drop on Fka. After Dark

Hi Gang,

I recently left for vacation for 8 days, with my Fka. After dark being watered in my greenhouse lightly twice a day on the same zone with my vandas and aerides. Upon coming home, the bottom half of the leaves had begun to yellow/brown, and now, a week later, all the leaves have dropped. If this were late fall, I wouldn't be concerned, but I'm curious if anyone has encountered this situation.

For what it's worth, the roots are happy and healthy. So what's possibly going on here? Is it possible to over-water these in active growth? Will they sometimes get seasonally confused and begin dormancy in late july? Meaning I should start withholding water?

Perhaps the last, and maybe most important info is I did find some spider mites on it. Is that something where catasetinea will drop leaves to get rid of pests?

Any insights are appreciated and thank you!

Any pics?

Personally, I'd back off watering a bit, but no need to let it dry out completely. I bet it sprouts a new growth soon.
