Water after repotting

I received a few catasetums earlier this week and just repotted them. I noticed the media was a bit wet (so they had clearly been watered recently). They have fairly decent new growth above ground but there are only a few very small new roots. I cut off all the old dead roots - one had slightly rotted roots - and I sprayed with dilute physan.

Now I am wondering ... is it ok to leave them bone dry in the new media? I was planning to keep them dry until the new roots are a few inches long. Does that sound like the right plan?

GS --- You're basically the eyes and ears for observers on OrchidBoard.

Some detailed images showing the appearance of the orchids (leaves etc) will definitely help with the assessment.

Excellent shots GS. For the one with lots of leaves - full plant ----- that one should be ok to water - if it has lots of roots already.

The other two ------ you definitely have the option of holding off on the watering if you like, until the roots get longer.

If your growing temperatures are good, and not very cold ------ I reckon it will be ok to just spray a little bit of water near the rims of the pot - just to have some dampness (but not over-doing it). A little bit damp. Otherwise, if the bulbs stay nice and plump ------ it definitely will be ok to hold-off on the watering until the roots get a little longer.

Wonderful! I will give them a little spray at the edges. My grow room is nice and warm - 85F/70% humidity
