More to come with pics but the long story short is I have been pestering him about getting a ‘black pearl’ or where to find one and he says, I have this other cross I did a division of you can have that, it’s just as black.

Well it arrived and he failed to mention the two beast spikes of the sweetest nastiest meanest black flowers I have ever seen. I can’t believe it’s mine!!!!

Those are fantastic looking flowers! I always told myself that I would get one of these black types, providing that I can get my two existing Catasetinae to bloom. Turns out I'm an abject failure at Catts; they grow well, seem happy enough, but refuse to spike...

How's the fragrance on that one? I found the fragrance on 'Black Pearl' to be........ interesting.

Jealous!!!

I was hoping my Black Pearl would have its first bloom this year, but it didn't happen. Sent a pic to Fred CLarke he said most likely next season. I bought a mericlone seedling from Odom's Orchids in the fall of 2018.
