I think guide it out, or move the guide. Where it's heading, it will be crimped and possibly not survive.

yeah, that's what i was thinking....i had this wire holding it because i wanted the new growth to go up...as you can see, the plant like to go at 90 degree turns..the bulb you see prominently is last years and then sideways in the rock is two years ago LOL

You can never predict where a new growth will pop up... so it's just necessary to go with the flow, move things that get in the way. (I have that with Stanhopeas... the spikes grow down, the pseudobulbs tend to get jammed against basket sides, I just nip the baskets to set things free. Baskets are cheap.)

the new growths are coming along but i am feeling like one of them wants water.... see how the tips are a bit crispy on the first pic? especially when compared to the other two's growths..

Damn Steve! Why do you have to be so direct!?!?

It has been a bit odd around here with the weather but she’s been hung high on my patio, not watered, and generally just allowed to be dormant

It has been our “winter” so it has dropped to the 40/50s at night a few nights and the rain was almost non-stop(another unusual thing for this time of year)

This plant also started to grow this guy before it even dropped its leaves on the last pbulb. In fact, I just cut the last two yellow leaves off about a day ago with the single use razor and cinnamon. I didn’t think about that as a risk to the new growth

Should I leave it and watch??? Kelpmax?

Ha! No reason to beat around the bush! Lol

Changing the plant position at that stage is the likely reason for growth death. It’ll put out a replacement (or three) very soon. No need to do anything to “help” the plant. Also, cutting leaves didn’t harm it.

Since it seems the damage may already be done I have relocated to to the same level as my other catesetums and will continue to use one hand to fight the other from watering them

The dying growth got bigger? Is there a root tip popping up on the left? Or is that a new growth?
