bulbophyllum taiwanense
it actually bloomed a month ago then a week later or so, the flowers wilted from a heat wave we got here... unfortunate but I was able to take pics...
but anyway 2nd blooming for this guy, not sure what coaxed it as it didn't bloom last year, but just happy it was able to again... grows outside year round on my balcony... thinking about it now, it does get more light than it did last year...

One of my favorites, partial to yellow anyway. This is a must have for a bulbophyllum collection. Good Job!

Thanks guys! Was hoping I'd get orange flowers as I think the species ranges yellow to orange, but partial to yellow as well...

Good growing! It is a rare orchid found in the south monutainous regions in my country. Nowaday, seedlings are available and more and more people have it.

thanks pheli, appreciate your comment, didn't hear that it was rare, good to know it's become prevalent in cultivation as to not lose the species...
Can you describe the south mountainous regions? Grower has told me the area fluctuates high and low in temp and humidity and as such grows well here in southern california outside, which has proven the case for me, but curious from a native's perspective...

The cluster of blooms is beautiful. And it is great to get comments from pheli (and others) about the species in its habitat. Really adds to the interest and learning. Thanks, everyone!

It is a subtropical species. In the afternoon, it is often cloudy in the regions and then cool at night. Since it is an island here, the humidity is relatively stable, especially in the mountainous region. Therefore, it may reaches 30'c at noon, but down to 20'c at night.
