Thanks. I grow it in a net pot with Leica on the bottom. Pot is lined with nylon mesh like from an onion or and orange sack. Keeps the leca from falling out. Then it is planted in sphagnum moss. I don't let it dry out although close sometimes if I forget to check it. It gets warm temps in summer and medium light. It is fairly cool in winter because my greenhouse is kept at 65F in the day and 60F at night. Good moving air and under a T5 light. I usually use a balanced fertilizer and feed weakly, weekly. Thanks. Yes, I like black velvet for photographing orchids. I find it absorbs light really well, so gives a good true black background. Place the plant at least 2 ft away when possible. For this I had to set the plant on it so that the spikes and plant all had black background. But I usually try and get some distance between background and plant which helps to keep it dark black.
