Wait, how do you pronounce this again?
(But really, how do you?)

This one bloomed for me despite the seemingly less-than-optimal conditions I can give to it. It was one of those impulse purchases...

I tried to get a good close up of the lip but it was hard because the flash is on top of the camera (also the smell)

Thanks for looking!

Wow it is gorgeous!
And what timing. I was just looking at this on a vendor site as they are attending our show in March. I was tempted to pre-order it but wondered about the care it would need. Can you tell me anything about how fussy it is or something I would want to know? Does it have a very sprawling growth on the rhizome like some Bulbo's? Funny you posted this just when I was looking into getting one

Silken, the bulbs on mine are right up next to each other, very little space between them. The leaves are big and wide, very different from my Lovely Elizabeth and medusae, whose leaves look very much alike.

I can't see the photo(s) ! ! !

You can pronounce it any way you want and don't let anyone tell you different. The only 'correct' way would be in the original Latin and I don't think there are too many Latin scholars in the orchid world.

I speak Spanish and French, two languages that descend directly from Latin, but my mother tongue is American English, so I break down the syllables in a Latin way but employ an Americanized pronunciation:

"bulb-oh-file-um eh-key-no-lay-bee-um".

By the way I just bought an already-bloomed one of these in August and I am super excited for any signs of a spike. When might I start hoping to see one?

You folks keep posting pics of these. I like seeing them, but I smelled one once, so pics are fine!
