Not sure what you want to know precisely. I prefer to use a tripod to get good sharp images. I do use a DSLR camera and a close up lens for this type of shot. In this case, on the close up, because there are many different parts to the bloom, I took some multiple images with a different part in focus on each one and then stacked them together so most parts are in focus. Using a small aperture (large number like f14) accomplishes this to a point if you aren't into using Photoshop or other software for it.

I really prefer daylight and with a tripod it doesn't have to be real bright because you can have a slow exposure and no jiggling of the camera. But setting white balance correctly should help with any kind of light.

Hope that helps.

Beautiful!! I've gotten a division of Bulbo Lovely Elizabeth which is this plant crossed back to Bulb. rothschildianum. I'm hoping for long red flowers like these

Could you say how long these took from first noticing the spikes to full bloom?

Thanks. I hope you get a nice one.

I checked my OrchidWiz journal and see that I noted on Nov. 9th there was a small spike. On Dec. 16th it was all open and fully formed blooms.
