Bulbophyllum collettii
Bulbophyllum collettii, or also called wendlandianium a species from India, Burma and northern Thailand. I have had this specimen plant in my collection for a number of years now but this season has been the best blooming cycle ever. The bizarre looking flowers have a strange musty sent that attracting flies and other undesirable fly insects. This year I have a Maxillaria tenuifolia in flower at the same times, so I have this weird mix of musty coconut oil permeates through my shade house. But the strange thing is, those flies appear to have done their job, because a number of capsules are developing. Whether the seed will be fertilise is another story. But I love my bulbophyllums, especial the section cirrhopetalum, they are just so bizarre and striking. Give me a thumb up if you agree.
