Default Bulbophyllum frostii and Friend

First bloom of frostii. I got it on a mount but it always seemed dehydrated so I put the mount and all in a pot of sphag and voila....bloom-matic! The last one is a fresh flower of roxburghii.

Very nice! frostii keeps tempting me to dip my toes into the bulbophyllum pool, but I'm an indoor grower and probably wouldn't appreciate the scent filling my room. :P Really beautiful flowers you have there and the plants look great too.

These are so cool. Bid a couple times and lose everyone and this solidifies why! They are so pretty and cute!

There are bulbos who dont have a funky odor or smell nice even. My bulbo Frank Smith is supposed to have a nice scent. But that is something I have to ask as well bc I grow outside in summer and I live in the country and I dont want a Bob Cat sniffing around thinking its found a midnight treat!!!

I do not detect a scent from either of the two bulbos in this post. I grow outside year round tho and there could be a faint smell that I have missed.

Bulbophyllum frostii is supposed to smell like Juicy Fruit Gum. You gotta stick your nose right up the flower, the scent is not strong enough to detect from a distance.

I've smelled one before when I was working at an orchid nursery.

The scent is also produced only during certain times of the day, they don't smell all day long. Try smelling between 8 am and 5 pm.

These should be fruit fly pollinated, and fruit flies are generally diurnal insects, not nocturnal.
