I have a a very large clump of this plant that I have had for about 10 years. I live north of Los Angeles and was growing this orchid outside during summers, I would usually bring this one inside from fall till spring because of cold, one night I forgot and it got to near freezing that night, well the madusea did not take kindly to that cold air and lost all but 2 bulbs,at time was filling out a 6" basket. That was about 7 years ago and those two bulbs are now over 100 strong bulbs and this year this plant grew better then I have ever seen it grow. Should be blooming in a few months I will post pictures then. An easy plant, phal. Light, love moisture, mounted or open basket.

I'm beginning to think that the term "easy grower" is relative. I know that Tommy had trouble growing draculas and I have one that is growing like a weed and I don't even do that much with it. I just mist it once, sometimes twice a day and I stuck a humidifier in the room I grow it in. LOL!
I would love to try this bulbo, but I'm concerned that my growing conditions are too cool for it, so I am going to sit back and admire all of the pictures I see on this forum!

Definitely a relative term. I have not been successful with a single Dracula species. I am about to lose Dracula Mospus and that one is supposed to be easy. Also what works for you guys in the North does not work for me here in the tropics. Orchiata is useless here, and Sphagnum is almost a death sentence. These 2 materials deteriorate way too quickly and in our humid environment they retain too much moisture. They are both recipes for rot in PR

I'm growing some plants mounted, some potted in bark and some in moss. Most of the ones I have in moss, aren't going to stay there. They're just staying in the moss until they're ready for a repot. I'm not having a ton of issues with moss, but it stays wet for a really long time and I have rescued a couple of clearance rack phals that were potted in moss that had some pretty bad rot.
I think I will leave this one on my "When I move to Florida" wish list.
