For people who are interested in the display a medusae makes should also search for a vaginatum. The medusae is a rather large growing Bulbo but the vaginatum has much smaller pbulbs and leaves. The blooms are as dramatic but they still dangle and twist.

Good - I love when people decide to bring another orchid into their collection.

A specimen sized vaginatum is gorgeous! And it grows to specimen size much faster than the medusae.

It is growing in a 6" plastic vanda basket, sits in a saucer of water (except when blooming) in Catt light. When the spikes start appearing I hang it to get the best display of the dangling blooms.

Because of this I am having to place a bid on one now on ebay...You have officially made me break a promise to myself to behave and take good care of the ones I already have. lol.

It isn't the least bit offensive. I know this species get a bad rap but the stinkers are almost all of them in the one family. Many Bulbos actually smell great.

Hey Smell is very important in my opinion. I saw a bulbo on ebay and almost bid on it. It is the one that has the really large flowers that have the really long tails and darker centers, that are supposed to smell gosh forsaken....Unfortunately I have a VERY large puppy who would not be able to keep his nose out of it, and I live in the country and I don't want skunks coming out seeing if they have some competition. lol.
