Bulbophyllum Phlaenopsis Male
Default Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis

Hello guys, I'm from Brazil and do not know how to write well in English, but would like to help me with a little problem here. I have a Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis about eight months. Arrived as the first photo, and here were born over 2 bulbs. However these two bulbs were smaller than they already had. The plant is young, has about two years, but it was not for the new leaves come bigger than the other? See the photos .. Does these leaves will keep growing?
Once I read that some factor influenced the growth of leaves, but I do not remember what it was. If it was more shade, more light, more water ... anyone heard anything about this?

Another thing, the hanging basket needs to be tilted or is it irrelevant?

I apologize if the topic is in the wrong place! And once again for my English ..

I saw the pictures and it is still a very young plant; maybe three more years before it flowers. The leaves will get bigger and longer as years go by. Just be patient. The leaves will not grow the same length since the other bulb is dominant and gets more nutrients than the smaller bulb.

Bud, Thanks for replying ..

So, the older leaves will continue to grow over the years?

What about letting the hanging basket or tilted horizontally like this? Help or it was indifferent?

Leave more shade or more in the light also changes anything?

tilted or not makes no difference as long as you keep it evenly moist in the warmer months as most Bulbohyllum found in Asia want....and do not let the moss dry out, but in winter you may lessen water and let the mix dry before watering.
Keep plant in warm temperatures, remeber this is a tropical plant. Keep good air movement to avoid fungal growth. Keep plants in bright shade.

Thanks again Bud ..

Here in Brazil this Bulbophyllum is not so common and information about it are very hard to find ... It is going well but, as the new leaves were smaller than the old ones so I was worried that I was doing something wrong.

Do not worry, wait for at least five years and the leaves will be two feet long and five inches wide....you have a 2 year old seedling and it is still going to grow big....you have the correct sized basket, you will wait five years before you repot when the plant becomes very heavy and big....I have this orchid and it is 5 years old and still medium sized; I have seen really big 11 year old of this and the 6foot man can hardly hold it up for photograph

Sorry I can't help with the plant, but I've added the images to your post.

You can't add images this way until you have 5 posts, so you should be able to do it soon. On photo bucket there are links on the right, the IMG one gives you the exact code to just paste into your post... you just need the 5 posts first.

Are you sure you want this plant? I was checking out the Internet for this plant and came across this picture of a man and his Bulbo Phal. Reading further, the scent of the flower was described as some thing like a dead mouse? He is holding up a leaf to reveal the flowers, the flowers look like a flock of mice! NOTE: these two photos are from a Google search and do not belong to me.

Here is a close up of the flower. Certainly an unusual orchid!
