Bulbo Medusae 'Miami'
Hi all,
I need some advice for growing this one. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had success growing in a house (as opposed to in a greenhouse).
I could either grow this in a sunny east-facing window (in frosty New England) with oncidium-type light, where the photo-period is pretty darned short in the winter and nighttime temps go down to the mid fifties... or under a short run of T-5s with phal-type light, where the nighttime temps don't go below 60 and lights are on for 14 hours or so. Either spot is pretty dry - but I can use sphagnum moss and humidity trays to help a bit. Which do you think would be better?
Any other cultural tips are most welcome too. I've been after this one for ages, and recently won an eBay auction. Thanks Santa!
And thanks to you for the advice!
Merry Christmas and a safe and happy 2013 to you and yours.

I think you would do better growing under the constant light instead of an east window. In my area the sun has been a stranger for the last month.
I grow mine in what I call high phal light, temp never below 60 (g/h) and I never let it dry out. The medusae is my favorite 'chid.

Spectacular!!!
I can see why it's your favorite. This is the kind of stuff that gets people totally hooked on orchiding.
Thanks for sharing. Can't wait for mine to show up in the mail.
