That plant looks really happy! I got my first bulbo (Karen Lewis) at my Orchids Society Auction. It is a plastic net pot and not doing much. You give me hope!

Just googled Karen Lewis. Wow! Fantastic looking blooms. I hope it blooms for you soon!

Default Update!

Well, nearly two years later and I'm finally seeing spikes on this! I repotted it in late spring and it's been sitting out on the balcony all summer in very bright morning light. In case you are wondering, those are two moss poles that I've strapped it to. I got the idea after seeing a picture of a similar bulbo growing in its natural habitat. The way it twirled up and around the trunk of a tree looked very cool.

There are three spikes so far, all on really old growths - 2 and 3 years old. I'm not sure how normal that is, but I'm happy. Lots of new growths too, off of old and new pseudobulbs. The markings on the spikes already look quite dark, so I'm hoping for nice colouring.

First flower is opening now. I'm really pleased with the colouring as I know there is a lot of variation for this species.

Thanks guys. And all three together (there's a fourth spike starting too):

Nice smell on these, too.
