Default Bulbophyllum Sp. (From Papua New Guinea)

hi all,

hope your orchids have been growing great for you.

This new species recently bloomed, all the seller told me was that it was a new species from Papua New Guinea and that it looked like a giant Bulbophyllum restrepia as shown in the link below.

IOSPE PHOTOS

and no i don't think it looks anything like it, but what i can say is that it's big! approximately 6 inches - total length.

Yet again, another intriguing flower apart from the usual ''Lepidum'' Shape. The lip has silvery white hairs that reflect light - interesting. Probably to attract more pollinators i guess? Grown under 80% shade, no direct sunlight and watered twice daily. Actually, it's grown right next to my Bulbophyllum Hsinying Grand-arfa. Has alien-like antennae like prongs sticking out - im guessing to mimic an insect's real antennae.

Any ID Clues?

That is really cool! Watered twice a day? So it likes water like a paph or Phrag?

Nice one! Definitely section Hyalosema, to me looks closest to Bulb. singulare or Bulb. bandischii but I'm not too familiar with the section...

Hi Nat,

yeah they look very similar. i cant tell them apart from comparing the pictures. i think it is a Bulbophyllum singulare though because it's sepals are not fuzzy as mentioned in IOSPE photos.
