Bulbophyllum Sp. (From Sulawesi)
Default Bulbophyllum Sp. (From Sulawesi)

Good day all,

i've been very excited about this bloom and just wanted to share. When i bought it, the nursery grower said that it was a new species from Sulawesi. When i looked it up the internet, it came out to be Bulbophyllum pulchrum - but with conflicting images. This one seems more heavily spotted as well as darker in color.

Has a faint smell of what i can only describe as ''wet dog''. Grown in the same conditions as Bulbophyllum lepidum and is a prolific bloomer.

This website says that it is Bulbophyllum longiflorum "Dark spotted" (Indonesia).

.:: Asiatic Green ::.:: Orchids :: Bulbophyllum

This other website says that it is Bulbophyllum pulchrum,

TROLLS ORCHID AND OTHER FLORA: Bulbophyllum

Finally IOSPE Photos show that it doesn't look anything like Bulbophyllum pulchrum,

IOSPE PHOTOS

Any clues?

Anyway, do enjoy the pictures

Sorry, I can't help with the ID either, but its dazzaling. Perhaps you can find a taxonomic key to the Bulbophyllums? Or flora of Sulawesi?

Perhaps, i will continue on looking. i just spoke to a fellow bulbophyllum collector and he said if the sheath of the flowers on the spike is purple then it is Bulbophyllum Longiflorum (Dark Spotted)
