That sounds like a really good spot! I'm going to be moving mine around this weekend. I think I may have to resort to growing lights since I'm out of space at the best windows.

Do you use a humidifier?

No I don't use a humidifer - yet. I have good humidity most of the time in the 50-70's but at the moment it is only about 40. I am putting out small bowls of water in between my orchids and that is possibly helping.

I have my masdevallia in a small cold, wet terrarium like setup. I think I'm going to have to put one together for the warmer specimens.

From what I've heard, they don't smell as bad as some bulbophyllums. The best I could gather from others and the net is that it smells like pepper. I've recently ordered a echinolabium x Kathy's gold, I'm kind of afraid of what the result will be. :O

Apparently grandiflorum smells like rotting meat! Eugh, but I don't mind. I'll just be grateful that I'll have managed to bloom it!!

I know, right? Everyone looks at me funny for wanting to keep a smelly plant! Stinkers need some love, too!

The dealer I bought it from said that it doesn't smell as bad as some of the other types, but he could have just been saying that so that I wouldn't turn away.

What kind of medium is yours in?

Mine appears to be in 100% sphag with a little grit on the top of the pot. I was researching today and I came across something that said that the medium should dry out a little before being watered again. So, I have decided to let mine become dry to the touch half way down then I will water copiously.

Mine seems to be in a very fine bark mix. I soak it once a week, so far so good!

That's good. I have watered mine once since I got it last week. When it gets drier I will give it another water.
