Thank you, Dave.
The plant is in a plastic pot in the bark + fern potting mix. This was how I got it from Orchids by Hausermann. I water it by immersion of the pot to the top level of the potting material for several minutes in regular water (with diluted fertilizer every other time). I try to maintain reasonable dryness between waterings but mist the plant with distilled water twice a day. The mystery is that the humidity and the temperature were very different for the two growths: the first one appeared in the late winter when the humidity was very low and the temperature was in the 60-72 F range. The second one started - and, unfortunately, ended - in the summer time with the humidity of 60-80% and the temperature of 70-85 F. Another species obtained from the same grower at the same time, Cirrhopetalum sikkimense, is sitting next to the one in question and is doing just fine. I have to add that I have several decades of experience growing plants including orchids at home although it is my first serious attempt to grow under artificial lights. I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
Thanks again.
