Default Is this a Spike on my Bulbophylum Jersey

My one and only bulbo has been growing well for me, but I'm wondering if this new thing is a spike.

The first picture is it's latest new growth. This looks just the same as the previous growth did on the other side of the plant (the p-bulb is still growing on that first one). The rhyzome grows relatively long moving each new growth away from the last bulb. The new growths are also quite broad from early on.

This new thing in the second picture is thinner though, and held close to the bulb. It's on the opposite side of the same bulb that has the new growth.

So... is it just a new growth that is looking different or is it a spike?

Looks like a spike to me, should have lacquered burgundy flowers along stem, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Carol. Really hope so.

I had one flower when I bought it. There were two buds but only one opened for me. Not too smelly either.

Really hope I can get my first home grown flower :

I think that if its flat, its a new growth. If it's rounder in appearance, its a spike.

Thanks Tindo. It's much rounder than the previous couple of growths, but does have a flattish point at the top.

We shall see as it grows. Here's hoping
