Default May lose Bulbo. caudatum

I purchased a Bulbo caudatum as a companion to the Spring project Gastro. This bulbo does not like to grow it's roots in the moss it's mounted with, it's a wanderer. I'm very afraid that I cannot provide the moisture that it needs. I can only water it 2x a day. The p-bulbs are starting to look shriveled and I'm afraid of losing it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep this thing moist during the day? I am hoping one day I will be able to get a tank to put some chids in, but that is further down the road. I really need some help on this one.

Send it to me, I'll take care of it.

Seriously, though, I'd recommend unmounting it. I don't have this one but I grow some related species and they're easier in pots or baskets than on mounts, especially if you don't want to water every day.

Since this one is a rambler and likes a lot of moisture, a broad, shallow plastic pot ought to suit it well. Get a sturdy plastic plant saucer at your local garden or big box store, drill some holes for drainage, more holes around the rim if you want to hang it, and fill with a medium that suits your watering style. Sphagnum over styrofoam peanuts works well, but CHC or bark mixes are also okay with more frequent watering.

Good luck!

Thanks! I will try to unmount it when I have some time. A lot going on right now. All of my chids are in need of some serious TLC. I will try to pot this one as best as I can. It's easy to pot up the ones that grow uniformly. The pbulbs and roots on the caudatum are all over the place! I guess best judgement and common sense will be my guide while potting it.
