Default Bulbophyllum moniliforme - :(

I have a Bulbophyllum moniliforme who doesn't seem to be in the best of spirits. For a while, she was doing fantastic, and even put up a flower spike. But alas, the flower never came. Just before opening, the bud and spike aborted, and since then the whole plant seems unhappy. What were once good sized (for the plant) vibrant green bulbs have turned a brownish green. All new growth has also slowed to a halt.
She is grown in the same terrarium as my Pleuro's. Temps are between 78F day and 65F night. She is right in the path of one of the fans, and is watered every day.

Any ideas as to what might be ailing her?

My two cents (can I get any more for it?), perhaps keep humidity high, but infrequent watering. Warmer temperatures.

Hi, I just bougt a B. monoliforme myself and I can tell you what the merhant told me. Dipp it in water and let it dry out between watering, it needs a dry period when it should be watered less. Aparently it gets most of its water from humid nights during the dry period, whithc you could combine with natural lower light (2-3 months here in Sweden). Nutritent mayby 2 times a month or werry diluted every time. He also told me that i could spray around it but not on it, probably to raise the humidity and decrease evaporation from the plan. Also check out this site .:: Asiatic Green ::.:: Orchids :: - Bulbophyllum Gallery some more informtion if you scroll down. Well wish you luck wit the plant, it is a lovley little fella.

Hello everyone, i have noticed that members have been visiting my webpage and i am here to hopefully meet more friends. Unfortunately i will take some time to fully upload all the information for difference species of bulbophyllums and orchids. I usually source information from books and through my experience. Hope you all enjoy the pages.

I love your website. I especially appreciate the culture info for each species. I refered to your bulbo section so often that I finally just printed it out and filed it. Now I can refer to it without having to go into the website each time I need to know something. Thanks, thanks, thanks for the wonderful info you have shared with us.

I will keep watching for updates.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee, get comfortable and be prepared for a wonder trip thru this webiste. I can spend hours on that site, there is so much info there.

I store my orchid info in Excel. I have created 4 collums for the 4 different culture requirements listed on this website. They are narrow collums with just the numbers listed for the requirements of each plant I have. It is so helpful to have this info at my fingertips, especially if I move my plants around from one location to another.

Enjoy.

What a great site!
Thank you Amos
Perhaps you and Kimelix can post an intro - we'd love to hear more about your orchids, what you wish for and photos of the ones you have

Thank you everyone, I'm glad to know that many people actually liked my website. The whole idea of this website is to list all the species that i came across and hopefully produce a list with pictures and info convenient for everyone to see and read.

I'll workharder to produce better webpages as time goes by. I consider myself luck to be able to see all these amazing plants within 5 years. I kinda got addicted into orchids and got a serious orchid crash course.

My Website is not complete yet and many pages still requires updating. Seems like i'll never finish as there are at least 2000 species more.

Thanks!
