Hmmm...might have to respectfully differ with you on this one, Philip...
IOSPE PHOTOS lists makoyanum as mini to small, though with a large natural range so there could be some significant genetic variation and difference in size.
In corroboration of IOSPE's description, a professional Bulbophyllum grower I visited at his greenhouse this spring had a number of individuals of makoyanum that were all about half the size you describe. I think he said he had (legally) collected them in the Phillipines last year, so they may only be representative of that one population.
One was in bloom and did look like the pictures I've seen of the 'true' makoyanum. I guess it's possible it was serratotruncatum or brienianum, which look pretty similar to my ignorant eye, but those are both rarer and this guy is pretty sharp on his taxonomy so I assume he would know the difference.
