can we see a picture of the plant ? As I get better at growing some of the less common orchids and more daring to try some new ones, it is good to see the whole plant as well as pictures of the flowers. The flower pics scream, "cool, wild, try me". Then the plant pictures show mounts (certain death with me still); or itsy bitsy, high-humidity demanding, fragile one leave marvels

While I agree some orchids have very demanding growing conditions, most can adapt to our local environment. Bulbophyllum, for the most part, are very adaptable. My personal view is that you should at least try growing and learning about the chids you like... you/ we all knock off a few on the path to better growing! While some really do better mounted, not to mention they look really cool growing on a mount, so far I've done well with bark/CHC for the few I have. This plant is pretty good size and I thought I would use a basket. It is in a 6" (4.5" inside) basket lined with coconut fiber. I used this because it is free for the collecting at my mom's house in Florida. Otherwise you can line the basket with sheet sphag; some use a wire mesh or screening for windows or if you like sphag for growing in baskets, just use it for the whole basket in stead of bark.

Thanks Howard,
I like the picture of the plant as much as the close up of the flower. The potting and culture info are a big help too. I may need to try a few bulbos.
