I've tried a few crosses with some of the prettier Cirrhopetaloides I have but none have taken and I was hoping to query Bill a little about what I'm doing wrong. I also just love visiting people's greenhouses and, of course, I love Bulbophyllums!

Howard, I first found Jan's listings by searching for 'Bulbophyllum.' Now I've got him bookmarked as one of my favorite sellers. I think he lists new items every Thursday evening after the previous week's auctions expire. Just do me a favor and don't bid too hard for anything, okay? I've also got a few searches saved with my particular preferences so that I can, say, do a quick search for Bulbophyllums or Dendrobiums that filters out any sellers not located in the US. You can do this in Advanced Search, and then if you check it as a saved search you don't have to redo the filter parameters each time. Just be careful, eBay is addictive!

Susanne, a couple more I just thought of:
Piping Rock Orchids
Mountain Orchids
Both of these places carry some unusual Bulbophyllum species and the people running them know a lot about breeding, etc. You also might check with Troy Meyers, there are no species from this Bulbo section listed on his website but he has connections with a lot of growers of obscure plants and I'd imagine he would be supportive of an effort to propagate a rare species.

Not a problem, Nat.... you have to understand that I'm not the brightest light bulb on the lamp. And I looked at Piping Rock and am very interested, thanks!

Cool! Piping Rock is a great orchid nursery. Glen Decker is a really nice guy and I was very impressed by the quality of the two plants I got from him this past fall. He also gave me a break on the shipping because both plants I ordered were diminutive species, which I thought was a nice gesture. Glen definitely has some other Bulbophyllums not listed on the website, so don't be shy if you're looking for something unusual. Unfortunately he doesn't have any of the Taiwanese Cirrhopetaloid species I've been looking for. On the other hand, if you want Phrag. kovachii or one of those great new hybrids with it, he's your man.

autumnimports has Bulb. thaiorum that just got out of my maximum. Very sad, one of the Cirropetalums I would really enjoy growing, maybe Ill break down in the last couple minutes.
If anyone finds out a definitive source on any of the macrobulbon, I would be very interested.
