Bulbophyllum carunculatum
This is the first flower for me on this plant... when I received it, there were 2 spikes. Sadly, one died and I am thrilled that this spike made it and has rewarded me with a neat looking flower. I'm not certain that the lower sepals are open all the way, yet. There is a 2nd bud that should open in a few weeks. From what I've read the flowers are very long lasting so we will see.... And, there are no less than 4 new pseudo bulbs emerging from the base!!!!

That's a really nice carunculatum I love the smell on these ones! How many pseudobulbs does your plant have?

Well, it depends on which one... last month I must have been having one of my many Sometimers Syndrome attacks and picked up the smaller plant. The plant currently in flower came from Dwayne Lowder at The Dowery. It has a number of active pseudo bulbs. There are a couple that are back bulbs or soon to be back bulbs and 4 new growths... there is one emerging on the back side out of view. The smaller plant (green pot) has, what I believe will be a spike. I'd like to sell/trade the smaller plant but with the cold weather, this may have to wait til spring.

BikerDoc5968,
I have to say I'm not an expert. So, these are all my opinions based on some informations.
These 2 species are very similar (carunculatum and amplebracteatum) I think mainly the lip that is quite different.
Siegerist say in her book about B.carunculatum " .. The dark mahogany-red labellum ... it is covered with small, lumpy outgrowths (caruncules), hence the specific name " She doesn't have B.amplebracteanum listed in her book.
Perter O'Byrne in "A to Z of South East Asian Orchid Species" has B.amplebracteatum and the picture is exacted as yours. Also he has a distribution map of this species which is only Ambon Island.
These are some info on Jay's website
