Apparently the little tassels are part of the way in which it attracts insects, probably flies. It does have a faint carrion smell, but for me at least it is not strong enough to be bothersome.

Wow, nice photos. Love the way this sp. is festooned with tassels. Congrats on the bloom and thanks for sharing. Whats your secret to getting them to bloom? I can't seem to get any of mine to bloom.

Ron, I'm curious as to the overall size of the plant, psudob's and flowers? I have Cirr ElizabethAnn Buckleberry which should open in a couple of weeks....maybe!

If I am seeing your picture correctly, it's about the same size as yours, Howard. I have a picture of the hwol plant that I'll try to remember to post.
