Smile fertilizing bulbophyllum nymphopolitanum

Hello,
This is my first post. I have a little bulbophyllum nymphopolitanum, and wonder if there is a specific fertilizer I should be using. Some general care info would be helpful. I have been growing phalanopsis for about 10 years, but this is something new!

Thanks!

Hi Marengo,

wow... there you've got a difficult one. This is the kind of plant which is normally kept in Terrariums with dart frogs, because they are so sensitive to fertilizer, that normally the best way to provide them with nutrients is with frog's poo..

just kidding I think actually you can use any orchids fertilizer, but I would suggest to use it weekly weakly... 1/4 of recommended dosage, I would say

I was just inthe mood of making a joke

Hi!
That was a good joke, because it's about 27 degrees here with a couple of inches of snow on the ground. I'd be hard pressed to find a frog around here!
But really, thanks for the suggestion of 1/4 strength and weekly, weakly. I've heard that before, so it must be a good regimen.

LOL, hehe. Don't tell me that Kavanaru! I have been fertilizing my B. nymphopolitanum with orchid fertilizer, forgot the specs, so I got scared for a second I was about to kill it. Haha. I keep mine in the vivarium, yes with frogs, and fertilize weakly weekly with a fert meant for orchids. I give it Phal light and heat but because its in the viv, lots of humidity/moisture. Good luck. I recently started fertilizing, and immediatly saw results so hopefully some time soon I will get some blooms.

Oh and Welcome to the Orchid Board. I will move this post to the Bulbophyllum subforum. When you feel comfy, maybe you might want to post a thread introducing yourself in the introductions/break the ice subforum.

I grow all my bulbo's on the bench between my masd's and phal's and I use the same fert for all three.. I have too many plants to differentiate. I'm definately a weak solution whenever I remember.. I don't have a set regime, I just fertilize whenever I feel like it and my plants seem to agree.

Tooooooo funny.

This is one tribe of orchids that I usually use 1/2 the recommended amount and use it more often, with a flush about every other week. These are very heavy feeders.
