Not so stinky Bulbos ?!?!?!
everybody !!!!
I'm starting to find myself liking this guys more and more but there is a bit of a problem. Some of them are stikers and I've got no idea which ones are those. I would like to add some of these bezzare beauties to my collection but don't know which ones. Any suggestions will be greatly welcome !!!!

Most are only bad when you get really close. Some say ambrosia has a nice scent but the one I have doesn't smell like much. My lobbii also is scentless as far as I can tell. barbigerum is my favorite so far though, I have a blumei about to bloom and I don't believe it to be very fragrant. My experience has led me to believe the ones that are dark red or have a dark red lip/ column are the ones that smell the worst. I reckon because they are meant to attract carrion flys so often resemble and smell of dead flesh.

Look at any of the bulbos that were originally classified as Cirrtopetalums. I don't have one with an offensive fragrance.

I don't grow any bulbos (right now) So I can't help you out Roly.
I've got my eye on a Bulbo medusae. Do you have one of these?
I don't believe they have distasteful scent. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey there Roly... Bulbos are fabulous! B. guttulatum is very pretty and mine has no fragrance.
Also, sites like Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia and HOME are helpful for finding out if a particular species is a stinker.

Thank you all for your prompt responses. So far I only own Cirr. tingabarinum which seem to be either spiking or starting 2 new growths. I defientely want to add Bulbo medusae to my collection it really looks amazing. And I'll look int all of the others that have been mentioned here. They'll be growing outside. I don't know if this would be a problem for any of this guys considering the heat of Miami.

I only grow one - B. psychoon, in my orchid tank and it didn't seem to be a stinker that I recall.

Yvan I've been advised not to do so. They say it's a bit of a stinker but maybe I should have my friend sniff the wonderful fragrance
