Default bulbophylum isabela

hi ob! so we’ve had this bulbo isabela for over a year now, and man, is it a survivor! it made it thru the huge terrarium fail of 21....that was a doozy....and then lived basically ignored hanging on for dear life to the side of another plant for 6 months. finally, after some thought and very little preparation decided this was its new fate. so, not being moss people, or bulbophylum people, is this an ok approach? it’s a shallow bonsai pot, maybe 4cm deep, packed tight with moss and has a block of bark that it was growing on.

in medium temps and humidity, is a light watering every week appropriate, just to keep things damp? thanks for any input, advice or criticism!

I've never grown that one. I keep Bulbos soggy, sopping wet.

ah, ok! that a good rule of thumb! of course we've looked thru a lot of internet info and had a general idea that we need to keep if more moist....but HOW to accomplish that outside of a terrrarium or greenhouse is sorta the puzzle. i love those pics of stuff like this growing on moss balls....they look amazing and the plants seem happy, but we don't have the knowledge or pots to pulll something like that off

Bill Thoms, who has more awarded Bulbos than anybody else, says he can't grow them well when mounted, because he can't keep them wet enough. Search OrchidBoard for a post by Roberta of a talk Bill did with the San Francisco Orchid Society.
