Timing of repot for bulbo
Default Timing of repot for bulbo

Hi Friends!
I hope your holiday week has been happy and uneventful!
I discover two tiniest root tips on my bulbo this morning. So cute! It is currently in a 2" square pot. Since it hasn't been with me long, I am not sure if it needs to be repotted or not. What do you think?
If so how?
Thanks.

I also have one of these, from Carter & Holmes. The medium is still good, so I'm not repotting yet. I wait until the plant grows over the edge of the pot.

In general happy Bulbos grow so fast they grow out of the pot before the medium breaks down.

Are you doing anything to train the roots to go down? Covering them.up with moss to keep moist?

Roots don't need training. Some of them will go into the medium, others will grow into the air especially if the plant climbs out of the pot. Which is fine. This is natural. Just keep the plant well-watered, Bulbos like to stay on the damp side. No, you don't have to chase new roots with moss. Let them do what they will do... in the right environment, they'll find what they need,

ah Roberta you are so lenient with your roots.

I am a more strict root keeper. My roots try to escape all the time too but when it gets too out of hand I have to direct it back to its pot.

Note that I did not try to second-guess Mother Nature... if the growths and roots want to escape, that is what I. let them do

It looks like I should convert mine into a basket at a later time? Is yours three or four inches basket?
