Multiple Seed Pods on Parent Plant

What are your thoughts about having multiple seed pods on a single parent plant? How many is too many?

Depends on the plant and the situation I would think. 1 is too many for a sick, dying plant, but sometimes it's a last resort. A healthy and happy plant with dozens of spikes could probably handle dozens of seed pods with proper conditions, just like a plant with hundreds of spikes could probably handle hundreds of seed pods.
