I’m assuming mine is named properly. I think it’s just misleading to have a plant pictured on the bag that doesn’t match the name on the bag.

I’m not too miffed about it because, yes, it was a good buy, but I’m not sure that I would have purchased this particular variety over some of the others now that I know what it will actually look like.

If I buy another one, I’ll google the name first to find out what I’m actually getting :-) Lesson learned, at least I won’t be shocked when it flowers.

it can be kind of like playing the lottery... the other part of the show tell will wait til get back home. It s a "blue" cattleya that grew for 2 years and turned out to be a purplish lavender type of unknown name. many times buy the plant just because its well grown and strong. Usually all these plants are very well grown. The grower that cares for sunbulb plants had a big article written about him by greg allikas in the AOS magazine and greg designated him as the "best orchid grower I know" Robert Palmer.

This had right picture, right tag and right color flower....
I'm curious whether the bloom will be more like Blc Prada Green (tag) or Ports of Paradise (photo on label, a parent of Prada Green Deluxe).

Yes, I agree. My local stores don't get these in and I was visiting relatives 6 hours south when I bought mine. I spent a lot of time debating which one to get based on the pictures on the bags. I really wished I'd know I should be googling the names instead!

I have to drive to California to find those. And my mom says, "Why are we going to Home Depot again?"

Sunbulb is the original company name that now includes "better gro" stuff. they are based in Arcadia FLA and also have operations in Apopka FLA. I don't know what their reach is but they are all over FLA in HD and Lowes and many other nurseries. I have been buying their plants since early 90's

I've seen them in a Home Depot in southern California; never here in Phoenix. But I seldom go to Lowes because there's not one near me.

Well... here is the other half of the show and tell...
The blue cattleya label said "C dinard 'my blue heaven'"
is in fact something different. A quick search under the name of the mericloned cattleyas from sun bulb usually named "volcano queen" quickly shows the likely correct plant, Rlc/Blc Always dream 'volcano queen'/
This plant was bought hoping for the blue clone but also because it was healthy and husky sized and it has continued to grow well in the 8 inch basket... and yes I know it has a minor element deficiency and I will address it as soon as the weather allows me to water and have a couple of days of warm temps before they go back n garage
pic 1 label, pic 2 actual plant,
link to correct plant name search
blc. always dream 'volcano queen' - Google Search
