Pre soaked medium Vs dry medium in potting
Default Pre soaked medium Vs dry medium in potting

Is there a specific advantage in using a presoaked medium with a super added weak concentration of a fertiliser while potting an orchid over a straight from the pack dry medium?
Will the soaked ones offer better milleu in the adaptation of the plant to the new environment?
Common experience : medium stat from the pack is dusty soaking will get rid off it, this observation holds good for LECA, Lava Rock, perlite and in the case of coconut husk it releases brownish red coloured substance called Tannins which will persist

Prewetting allows the medium to open up its structure, making it able to absorb more water going forward. Dry medium is more difficult to wet.

Plus, the particles become a bit spongy when wet, allowing you to compress them slightly, holding the plant firmly in place.
