I recently ordered some Phalaenopsis and they arrived in great shape, but they came with a notice not to repot for 30 days or severe damage to the plant may occur. This is the first I’ve heard of a waiting period.

They’re in moss which isn’t my preferred media and it doesn’t look like they’ve been repotted recently.

Is there a rational for waiting? I’m not in a particular rush to repot them, but I do usually repot most new acquisitions that come in moss within 30 days.

Is this to protect the seller? (If an inexperienced buyer damages the plants while repotting them, the damage is unlikely to show up until it is too late to claim from the buyer?) It sounds very odd to me - I've repotted Phals at all stages and never had a single problem.

I have seen it with other plants,I was told that it’s so they have a chance to adapt to a new environment before they are put under more stress from repotting.
I was also told that repotting would void the guarantee.
I have always repotted mine without issues.

Sounds like Norman's Orchids.

If you have any issues with the plants, repotting them will void any chance of reparations.

That makes sense that it’s more for the seller than the plants. I’ll give them a little time to make sure there are no pre-existing conditions and proceed with repotting as planned. I keep my Phals on the cool end and moss just hasn’t performed well long term for me.
