Help with leaves
Default Help with leaves

I am new to the forum. Hope to find help and share good news about all of my orchids

I don’t know the name of my orchid. I recently got it and have noticed a lot of brown spots on leaves and a few yellow leaves. Could someone help me and tell me what I should do?!
I am quite new to growing orchids. Having ups and downs with my flowers

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

I think this is a Dendrobium, perhaps of the Dendrobium phalaenopsis type. They often drop older leaves from older growths in fall, but it is spring where you live, and this looks like a recent growth.

This kind of Dendrobium also drops leaves if it gets too cool, if it doesn't get enough water, or if there is trouble with the roots. Can you show the surface of the pot, and tell us more about your growing conditions and watering?

Thank you for your reply!
In sydney we had a lot of rain, so I was reluctant to give it more water. I took it inside during the heavy fall because I didn’t want it to get soaked. I normally water daily or when bark is dry. I make sure I don’t give it too much water. In the picture the bark is dry, so I gave it some water afterwards. Normally I leave it outside with morning sun and afternoon shade. I gave it a little feed, looks like the pellets are gone already.

When I got it, I also checked the roots and they looked fine.

Now that I see it on a large monitor, I suspect it may be a reed-stem Epidendrum, and not a Dendrobium. Have you ever seen it flower?

I have seen the flower because he had another one for display only. I am trying to search for pictures but not having any luck.

All the yellow leaves have fallen off. Now left with the green with brown spots. I hope it’s not a disease and only old leaves.

Another stem has a new leaf and so far looking good

The pot is very large and I would not wonder that the plant would have the roots destroyed.

Check the roots and reduce pot size.

Find out what it is and post it so that people know how to accurately help you.
