Tinting on windows?

..I have a question about tinting windows over putting up shear curtains or a combination of both. I have impact windows in my Florida room (this is were I grow my orchids), I had them tinted at 20%, do you think I can do without my shear curtains. Or, should I use the curtains to protect my orchids from direct sun light? Waiting for some suggestions......Zoren...

If you hold your hand up a foot from the floor/table/bench where you grow your plants, how distinct of a shadow does it create?

Putting my hand about 12 inches above the plants with curtain faded and above plants without curtain less faded...Zoren...

Sounds like with a combo of sheers and film (some with and some without the sheers), you ought to be OK with medium- to low light plants, keeping in mind that the glazing is the apparent light source to your plants. Brighter growing plants near, and lower-light ones farther away.
